Joe's Rosemary Greyhound

This year, we had a bounty of grapefruit spring forth from our tree. At first, it was a challenge, trying to figure out what to do with them all. Now, as there are fewer and fewer (because we are squeezing them all!) I know we are going to miss them when they are gone. But that is the beauty of seasons. (or whatever passes for "seasons" in L.A.)

Here is one of our favorite uses for these amazing citrus fruits, along with the rosemary that grows all year in our yard... with a bit of gin and sparkling water, for a light and refreshing welcome to spring.

YOU CAN ALSO MAKE THIS DRINK MINUS THE ALCOHOL... IT IS EQUALLY AS REFRESHING.

INGREDIENTS

  • The juice of two grapefruits. (About 4 oz.)

  • 3 oz of gin.

  • A fresh sprig of rosemary.

  • Sparkling water or club soda.

THE PROCESS

Fill a rocks glass half way with ice.

Squeeze in the fresh juice.

Add the gin.

Top-off with a splash of sparkling water.

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and a fresh sprig of rosemary.
